X31 - caddy needed?

#1 Post by jargoone » Sun Jul 01, 2007 11:07 am

Thinking of buying a hard-drive-less X31. Looking on eBay, I see caddys and covers for sale. Looking in the repair manual, there's a note that says that the drive attaches to the cover.

Easy question: do I need a caddy, or not?

Thanks! :)

13N5450 should include both the plastic end cap, and a thin metal tray (not really a caddy in my book, but ...), plus a screw for the end cap. For example:

X220 (4287-2W5, Windows 8 Pro) / X31 (2672-CXU, XP Pro) / X61s (7668-CTO, Windows 8 Pro)

Yeah, that's the caddy. One could probably get away without it, but I think the main purpose is to hold the plastic sheet, which in turn protects the drive circuitry.

Thanks for the quick response!
