New T42 + Workpad c505

I have a new T42 - Win XP Pro SP-2.

I have an old Workpad c505 (= Palm m505).

After installing the Workpad software on the new machine, I could not get the Hotsync to work (nothing happens when pushing the button on the cradle and nothing happens when trying to start the Hotsync app).

After many uninstalls and reinstalls I decided to move the Workpad back to my old desktop. It would now not synch there, either.

After calls to Palm, they sent me an ESD card for a known USB problem with that model. I ran the ESD routine and was then able to Hotsync on my desktop.

Then I tried one more time to install the Workpad software and the Workpad on the new T42. Same result as before. Hotsync does nothing. I have tried both USB slots.

I am more than willing to buy a new PalmOne if that will solve my problem, but I'm concerned that the problem may be on the T42.

The T42 does have a dead modem. That doesn't seem like it would be related, but who knows...
