good bluetooth mouse.. compatible with t60p

hi all,

i was looking for a bluetooth mouse that i can use with my t60p.
i'm looking for a regular sized mouse wiht atleast 5 buttons. in my search i havent found a regular size mouse with advanced features.
there are the smaller travel ones or the plain vanilla 3 buttons,

besides that anybody have any issues with compatibility as well with a t60p?
would appreciate any info

I looked long and hard for a Bluetooth mouse that was both comfortable to use and provided some decent functionality (at least forward and back buttons). That was about a year ago, and I didn't find anything that met my criteria at the time. I settled on a Logitech VX Revolution that, while not Bluetooth, was nevertheless wireless.

My initial purchase was defective, and subsequently replaced by Logitech. The replacement has been fantastic . . . it's comfortable, has some very nice features, and comes with software support that can be "hacked" to make the mouse even more useful. Even though the mouse is technically a "travel mouse," it's still close enough to full size to feel substantial in your hand.

Oh, and it runs for close to 3 months on a single AA battery!

PS. I've seen this mouse advertised for $30 to $40 at multiple on-line retailers. It was going for around $70 when I first bought it.

I have a Microsoft Wireless Laser Mouse 6000. It looks pretty similar to the 8000. I am quite disappointed by its build quality. After less than 6 months of use, the paint on the sides have already started to MELT away. There is a big blotch of discoloration in the area where thumb rests and where my ring finger rests.

I hope Microsoft fixed this quality control problem in the 8000.

I have an LG vx8600 phone that I connect bluetooth to my T60P and have had no problems, so I have not anticipated any problems with the mouse, as a result I have not taken the time to read reviews or ask around about it.

Seeing as it uses BT, it should. It is a standard technology, just not alot of high quality mice use it.

My research says that for some bluetooth devices it is hit or miss, that's why I asked. The MX 5000 I mentioned comes with an MX1000 bluetooth mouse. This IS a high quality mouse and I would probably get this desktop set if I knew I did not have to plug in a bluetooth dongle. It is an expensive set, hardly worth the risk of it 'should' work.

Actually, the Apple MightyMouse wireless works perfectly with my Thinkpad T60's bluetooth. It's a great mouse...the best I've ever used. The only caveat is you have to remember to use "0000" as the pairing id.

A buddy of mine has that MS bluetooth mouse working with his T60P.
I had to download the update for the bluetooth software from IBM's site.Installed that and it works great with internan bluetooth.

Microsoft has a presenter mouse that looks pretty cool; although I have not tested it, I want one. It has all the things you are asking for, it's bluetooth, and it includes presentation buttons underneath it, as well as a laser pointer, so you can use it as a remote control during a talk or lecture. I've been using a Logitech MX900 for years. Still going strong...It has more buttons than I have use for, and it is bluetooth so you don't have to plug in stupid usb dongles.

I'll post here what I did in case someone else is in this situation or is looking for a cheap bluetooth mouse solution and has a USB MX1000 already.

First, the MX1000 Bluetooth only comes in an expensive Logitech desktop set (MX5000). I wondered what would happen if I could find just the MX1000 bluetooth on EBay or elsewhere. Would it charge in my existing MX1000 USB charger/receiver. So I posted here;

Armed with that information and what I learned in this thread, I lucked out on EBay here;

So, this MX1000 bluetooth is on the way. Hopefully at the end of the day I will have a MX1000 bluetooth mouse in like new condition that will pair with my Thinkpads and charge in my existing receiver for @ $25. I'll update this thread if this works.

I find that it works fine...very reliable...very easy to cart around with the included case...long battery life (much longer than my USB-wireless mouse from Microsoft I use at work).

By the way, setting it up in Vista is completely plug-n-play. Vista finds the driver and installs it with no issues. In WinXP, however, you've got to make sure you've installed the Logitech driver suite and properly installed and activated your Bluetooth stack. I think the Bluetooth support in XP seems primitive compared to Vista's.

can't speak to a T60 but this mouse works fine with a T61 running vista.

Staples had it for 30 bucks cheaper than everyone else the other day.

Nice little multiuse device.

I bought the MS Presenter Mouse 8000 a couple months ago, used it for a few days, but returned it. Here are a few brief comments that you may find useful:

Things I like:
- Comes with a nice, small plastic box for storage.
- Presenter functions works great with ppt -- especially like the "screen mute" button.
- Mouse is fairly nicely made, it is slightly heavy but feels great.
- Mouse sync'd without problem with the provided dongle. It also sync'd without problem with the internal BT on a Dell D620 that my colleague has.

Things I don't like:
- Left and Right Mouse Buttons don't "click" when you press them. This is a very personal thing but I am so used to the 'clicking' that I find myself pressing very hard on the buttons just to make sure that it registers.
- The scroll button doesn't have the "steps" like other scroll button. Makes it a little hard to control the amount of scroll you want, especially with moving from one slide to the next with ppt.
- The mouse is on the small size (which is ok), but this makes the two buttons on the left and right side of the body very hard to click. You have to make an effort to twist your thumb (or little finger) click them. And I don't have very big hands -- wrist to tip of middle finger is about 7.5 inches.

Overall, I like the ppt features, but after using it for a few days I find that the things that I don't like are the stuff that I use on a daily basis, so decided to return it. YMMV. I strongly suggest you find some place to try it out before you buy it.

I have the same mouse and find it frequently loses connection, requiring me to switch off and back on again (reset doesn't work). It's infuriating and usually happens when I'm in the middle of using it. Is this something to do with the XP bluetooth stack issue or just a crummy mouse?

I've been using the laser 8000 mouse with a T43P and vista for the last 5 months, pairs fine without the dongle.

Personally I've really liked it, more responsive than a small logitech mouse I tried, battery life is good, uses standard AA battery if you run out in a bad place.

I liked it so much I bought another for my mce PC along with the matching keyboard.

I have never seen such amazing mouse

It is acurate. It does not require any carpet.

And you can easily program each button assigment.

2) I think this mouse is the first reliable product I ever purchased from Microsoft !

For me, this product is equaly important than my T60P (or future T61P)

I had issues with the XP stack at first. In fact, there have been 3 releases of the software in the past year. Check to make sure you've got the latest (use System Update to check).

My v270 works fine now in both XP and Vista. It rarely, if ever, needs to be reset (that is, reconnected to the T60).

If updating the stack doesn't make it more reliable I'd see if Logitech will send you a new one under warranty.

I used this mouse a year or so back and personally couldn't use it, it seems to go to sleep a lot, takes forever to wake up again, feels laggy, at the time I went back to a wired mouse because I couldn't live with it, the MS laser feels much more responsive to me.

I have the Logitech V270 as well. I've never had a problem with it and my T61. I've had it about 2 weeks, never had it not connect or work virtually instantly. I'd reccomend it. It doesn't have the 5 buttons the poster is looking for though.

I have an MX610. In fact two MX610's. I love them! (logitech). Work great, love the buttons, ditto on the not being blue tooth but the wireless adapter works great. Uses two AA batteries which I find very handy for recharging. Depending on use and miliamps, lasts over a month (lots of mouse use).

They were only $25-$26 after rebate at Buy.com. Not on sale at the moment.
