T-41 will not come out of standby

#1 Post by Jim Mc » Mon Jul 02, 2007 10:08 am

Hi folks, this is an odd one to me. I have a T-41 w/ win2k. I have the power settings set to put the computer to standby when I close the lid. This it does, but, when I open the lid, it just keeps on standin by... I have to reboot the machine in order for it to come up. As I travel with my computer, this becomes tedious, to say the least. I make upwards to 20 stops a day, and the booting up is getting old. Are there any other things I should be looking at? Thanks in advance!

Try to keep pressed the Fn key several seconds until the laptop becomes alive.

I'm curious, why do you use W2K?

i don't think Windows 2000 supports the proper ACPI standards in order to have the system do what it's supposed to, it's designed for Windows XP.

I am curious too as to why anyone would want to use 2000 over XP? (or Vista for me :) hehe) XP is just as good as 2000 and even more secure than 2000 so what gives?

Win 2k- we have a homegrown software that has issues w/ xp. 2k handles our needs, and we don't feel the need or desire to go to xp (or vista) at this time. Thanks for your suggestions, I will try them both. Chances are I will reimage the machine, as it has a number of other issues.
