T61 DVD/CD-ROM Drivers Corrupt

#1 Post by Parisk » Mon Jul 02, 2007 4:00 pm

Running pre-installed Vista Ultimate. It worked for 2 days. Now, the error message is "Windows cannot load the device driver for this hadware. The driver may be corrupted or missing (Code 39)"

I "checked for solutions", tried uninstalling and re-installing the device, went to the Lenovo site, went to the Microsoft site,...

Don't know where to go next. I checked system32, and the driver files are there (but I don't know if they are corrupt).

Had to get the user going in a hurry, so I restored to factory settings. Wasted the time spent to istall all those apps, in the first place, but...
