question about NOD32 on a T60

#1 Post by npish » Tue Jul 03, 2007 1:23 am

for those who use NOD32 anti-virus on their ThinkPad, do you customize the configuration at all to minimize it's "footprint"? I'm quite new to the program-- I just purchased it due, in part, to glowing recommendations from this forum and many other reviews-- but I was quick to disable to the "AMON" module, as it seems to just monitor & scan files-- i.e. access the HDD--indefinitely in the background? (extremely annoying)

Any tips are greatly appreciated.

i have NOD32 installed on everything..
the footprint seems quite small and the update procedure is transparent until a popup lets you know it has updated..
at least once daily..

on my T60p its running and AMON is not accessing the HDD so i can even see it...

perhaps I jumped the gun here...AMON doesn't seem to be the nuisance I thought it might be.....thanks for your response, Bill.

I'm very happy with NOD32 on my T42p. I have all modules active and customized the settings to (among other things) use advanced heuristics which is supposed to slow things down a bit. But it still is very "lean and mean."

There is a very excellent tutorial on customizing the settings of NOD32 available at the NOD32 support forum at http://www.wilderssecurity.com/forumdisplay.php?f=16

And look for the sticky entitled "Extra settings for Nod32 v2.7 - revised 22-12-2006"

By going through the customization of settings outlined in that thread, one will gain a excellent understanding of how NOD32 really works and how customizable it really is.

AMON does not access the HDD indefinitely, the culprit on your system is something else for sure.
