390x problem

#1 Post by 12325 » Tue Jul 03, 2007 4:30 pm

Okay, long story. My uncle gives me 2(two) 390x's, one is a 2626-H0F and one is a 2626-L0U. Now it's kinda been tinkered with, the H0F has a 40 gig hardrive and the other one has 6.4 since i didnt need 2 of them I took all the parts out of one to make the other one better. The better one(the H0F, which I am on right now) has a 40 gig hd, 512 mb ram, p3 processor. Now the problem is, awhile back I connected this laptop to my lcd tv, and it looked great so I bought a USB wireless mouse and keyboard. So i installed it and everything and, now this is where I'm guessing the problem is, is that it disabled my trackpoint or something. Now the trackpoint doesnt work. When I first got it, it DID work. now im thinking its the motherboard so I may have to buy another mother board. Anyways, I have the trackpoint enabled in the BIOS and in the configuration, and the trackpoint tab shows up in mouse properties, but it still doesnt work. I am not using the usb wireless mouse as I use it for my PS3, but I am using a PS/2 wired mouse.

So all in all, my trackpoint doesn't work. Any Ideas? btw im running xp home.

Seem to recall that if there are two mice connected then the trackpoint becomes disabled via an auto disable /enable type check box somewhere - I think in the Thinkpad configuration program. Try it with just the trackpoint.
If it still wont play then you could try fitting the keyboard from your donor m/c.
Where to begin......
390e x1 390X 390X,700mhz
1 x T20 + about 8 untested for spares
4 X T23 + 6 breaking for parts
1 X T23 with Samsung 840 SSD and XP Great combination !

AND NOW....3 X T60s and 3 x T61s

No, I've tried that. I've reformated, and it still has not worked. it has to be the hardware. I think its the motherboard.. tomorrow im goin in to get it checked...maybe ill get em to install a new board..
