Floppy Drive - Parallel Port converter

#1 Post by Harryc » Wed Jul 04, 2007 12:47 pm

I have one of these converters;

EBay Item

Will it allow me to hook up a floppy drive to a T41 printer parallel port? If so, what port settings do I use? (.e.g ECP, EPP, Bi-Directional, any other settings) I tried it quickly, and XP windows explorer did not see the floppy (A: ) drive. The floppy controller and parallel port are active in BIOS and device manager.

well if you plugged it into the parallel port you have to go to the device manager and search for new devices. Parallel ports aren't USB ports that installs automatically when something is plugged into them. You go to the device manager and click search for new hardware and include plug n play devices.

Thanks for the reply. I did not see an option to include PnP devices in the scan from Dev. manager. The scan itself did not see the new drive. I also tried the add hardware option from control panel, no go.
