Presentation Director broken, Fn-F7 switching

#1 Post by bri » Wed Jul 04, 2007 4:52 pm

I had somehow screwed up my previous installation by installing the same version over itself resulting in the Fn-F7 display switching menu popping up randomly. So I uninstalled it using software update, the program files were still there but Fn-F7 didn't work, then I uninstalled it using Add Programs. I installed the newest version using software update.

Now I have Presentation Director working except that Fn-F7 toggles display between LCD and external no matter what I set it to do in Presentation Director, even if I set it to display the switching menu. How do I fix this?

I had similar issues with that.

I am not sure of the details, but there is some tiein between the Intel WiFi card, Power management and driver, and the softkeys. There is an istall sequence that I think you can find with the Intel WiFi drivers readme.

I followed all of that and then everything worked, at least sort of.

I am using Vista 64 and I have found that the video from ATI is not playing nice with the presentation manager from Lenovo and the mobility stuff in Vista.

If you use the latest version of Presentation Director 3.03a, you need the following.
Before installing Presentation Director, it is required to install
"Lenovo System Interface Driver" and an appropriate display driver for
the target system. Refer to the README file of each software package
for installing these software packages.

- Lenovo System Interface Driver
It is required to install "Lenovo System Interface Driver" to use
Windows Vista

- Display Driver
It is required to install an appropriate display driver for the
target system which is provided by Lenovo. Presentation Director
doesn't work with any inbox display driver in OS.

To enable Fn+F7 key function, it is also required to install the
following packages:

- Power Management Driver for Windows 98 SE/Me/2000/XP/Vista
- Hotkey Features for Windows 2000/XP/Vista version 2.00 or later
Note that the Lenovo Interface Driver is only needed and used with Windows Vista.

Drivers and software - ThinkPad T60, T60p

Thanks for suggestions, but using XP so doesn't help. Still doesn't work. I'm just using Catalyst instead now. At least it can restore color profiles for different displays which I don't think PD does...

This problem has been reported on more than one thread and I had it myself. It is not a Catalyst problem. The advice give by GomJabbar here and in other threads is correct, also for XP. You need the latest versions of PM driver, Hotkey features and Presentation Director - and I suspect that it is necessary to install in that order.
Current: T60p (2007-93G). Previous: T23 (2647-9LG).
