Microsoft Virtual PC and Ubuntu Linux Install

#1 Post by bobstockler » Wed Jul 04, 2007 7:16 pm

I installed Microsoft Virtual PC on my G41 ThinkPad about the same time as
I received a Ubuntu 7.04 CD from www.canonical.com.

I've tried to install Ubuntu in a virtual machine and have gotten so far
as to have the Ubuntu screen come up with the icons giving a choice to
play with examples or to install it (in the Virtual PC).

My problem is that my TrackPoint pointer can't click on either of them.

Any help in my getting Ubuntu running under Virtual PC will be very much
appreciated.

I cannot give any help with Virtual PC, but I can say I have installed and updated two different Ubuntu machines on my IBM Desktop and on my IBM T41 using VMware with no problems at all. It may be a VPC issue. ... JDH

What VMware products do you use?

I am using VMware Workstation 5.5.4. Version 6 is out, and I will upgrade to that some time. I really would like to get to Vista first and that is delayed over business critical compatibility issues. But if you are acquiring VMware for the first time, I would be inclined to go with V6 and do it on a trial basis first. ... JDH
