Visio on Vist 64, stays loaded & 100% CPU

#1 Post by jgrobertson » Thu Jul 05, 2007 10:30 pm

After running and closing Visio 2007 on this T60P with Vista 64 (Core 2 Duo), the CPU usage jumps up to 50% or 100% and stays there. Looking at the processes, I see VISTA.EXE *32 sitting there hogging the CPU. Sometimes, I see two copies and then it is pegged out at a solid 100%.

I have to kill that process (one or two instances) and then everything is fine.

Visio works fine when using it. This occurs when I close it.

I can't find anything at MS on this and just one other posting on some forum I had never heard of.

I can't be of much help with Vista 64, but have other related Visio problems.

Visio 2007 on Vista 32 runs fine unless opening files created by Visio 2000, then I get all kinds of Windows Installer errors in the event log. Reinstalling doesn't help. Files created by newer versions of Visio open without errors. Files with macros pop up a small security dialog that's hidden behind other windows and hard to see. It makes you think that the program has frozen.

Visio 2007 on Windows XP runs flawlessly without any of these errors, even from Visio 2000 files.

Visio help is hard to find. If I run across any info I'll post back here.

I called Microsoft and yes, this is a known problem even though they don't have it in their knowledge base. The issue is Bluetooth. The installer, because my T60P has built in bluetooth, installed and enabled a bluetooth add in. Disabling that, cures the problem.
