#1 Post by MDBratton » Tue May 25, 2004 1:01 pm

How do I remove the IBM boot screen? I want to replace it with a bootscreen that I LIKE :)

As detailed on another post on this forum, the IBM logo can't be got rid off - aside from a BIOS mod.

You might like to look at www.themexp.org for login and boot screens - I did, and found some really cool ones (sadly no UNOs...)

BIOS Mod? Can you recommend anything that will work and not cause serious problems?

I personally wouldn't touch the BIOS with a barge pole - the options available on the site I mentioned seem totally safe.

Copy the file NTOSKRNL.EXE (the boot screen) that's in WINDOWS\SYSTEM32 into a safe place - download the equivalent from what you've seen on the site - restart the machine in safe mode (press F8 when it restarts) then copy the new version over the version already in WINDOWS\SYSTEM32 - restart normally and it's done.

Same thing applies for the LOGONUI.EXE which is the logon screen.
