Need 701C Cable for CD ROM

#1 Post by azduck » Sat Jul 07, 2007 4:58 pm

This is truly a very useful support forum with lots of valuable information! I have learned a lot, but still have a question: Does anyone out there know either the part number or who might carry the cable that goes between my external 24X Sanyo CRD-S372VDB CD ROM (in a carrier) and my TP 701C? (not the PCMCIA card slot version) In my last move, it seems to have disappeared. Its been a long time since I used this PC (runs Windows 95) , but I think the CD ROM cable goes into the same slot where the cable to the external 1.44MB floppy drive plugs in. I checked the old IBM pccbbs mirror site at http://grayghost.dyndns.org/pccbbs/ and this particular part was not part of the 701 pdf manual (but it sure was great to find the mirror and the info it contains!). Thanks in advance for your help.

CD cable

Not sure about your particular CD drive but from that
era... several were actually setup for the printer port
(parallel port) and some were propeitary scsi... my
guess is yours is a parallel port and you'll have to look for
drivers and load them from DOS via autoexec.bat and config.sys.

I have an old BackPack CD drive that was loaded that way.

If this is the case, the cable for the floppy has the parallel plug
on it.

Hope this helps.
