Cloning a bootable IDE drive to a bootable SCSI drive?
Cloning a bootable IDE drive to a bootable SCSI drive?
Let's say you have a desktop computer with both IDE and SCSI hard drive controllers. You're currently only using an IDE drive, but want to enable the on-board SCSI (and add a SCSI drive) since it's faster.
Can you just use something like Acronics True Image to clone the IDE drive onto the SCSI drive, then change your BIOS to boot from the SCSI drive? Or is there something I'm missing ? (I've never had a system with a SCSI drive before)

Thanks. I couldn't come up with a reason why it wouldn't work, either. I would need to buy a SCSI drive first, but I see ones I like on ebay that are selling for only around $35.
Yes, I'd need to change the boot sequence in the BIOS, but I don't think that would be a problem. I wouldn't even need the IDE drive if the SCSI drive is working OK.
