Quick AC adapter question

#1 Post by Skywing » Tue May 25, 2004 1:07 pm

hey guys, i just wanted to make sure that the T20 Dogbone style adapter is compatable with the T42, the part number is 02k6673, the one that comes with the T42 is 02k6699, however i heard the older ones work fine with the new T series.

the dogbone is a 4.5a adapter and will work just fine.

you cannot use a 3.36a adapter as it does not produce enough amperage to properly power a T/R/A/G series thinkpad.   however, a 4.5a adapter will power an X or S thinkpad since they only draw 3.36a, even though 4.5a are available.   make sense?   :)

if you're ever in question of what a/c adapter is required for your thinkpad, simply look at the bottom of your case where it will either say 16v/4.5a or 16v/3.36a.   then find either a 4.5a or 3.36a adapter.

Hey Sky, I looked into what I had lying around...

1 3.36a from a T22, and a 1 3.5 for an X30/31.

Both of these worked in the T41P, although it -does- take longer to charge. I don't have any of the 4.5a like I thought I did.

thanks for clearing up the 4.5a vs 3.36a issue, just picked up a spare adapter off ebay for $30
