Ultrabay Device not detected? Used to work!

#1 Post by Al Bebe » Mon Jul 09, 2007 9:50 am

On my Z61t I have recently noticed that I am not able to hotswap my drives? It used to work ok but now both the DVD and HD are not detected when inserted?

I am not sure if this occured only after the most recent bios update or system update?

The devices power up but are not detected in Windows XP. Will need to check if the same with Vista...

Thanks in advance....

Do you mean hot swapping doesn't work or the devices are not dectected at all? (even from cold boot with device installed)

If both devices only power up and don't get detected even on coldboot, it sounds like a motherboard failure.

Its only when I try and hotswap. On initial power up the drives are detected ok, so I now have to reboot when I want to swap modules.....

Ok, it looks like a driver problem not a hardware problem.
try updating or rolling back drivers. (try to remember when this symtom started and which software/drivers you had installed)

good luck...
