Removing Bluetooth/Wifi network icon in System Tray

#1 Post by leesiulung » Tue Oct 19, 2004 1:16 am

I want to remove the green icon for the wireless adapter and the Bluetooth icon in the system tray. I cannot seem to find a way to do this.

The only way I could remove the BT icon is to remove the shortcut from the startup folder, but this disables the BT module... anyone?

Unless someone knows of another way:

right click the Taskbar
select Properties
check the box Hide inactive Icons
click Customize...
highlight the item you want to hide
in the drop down menu select Always hide

If you don't already use "Hide inactive icons", the only drawback is that you'll now always have a less-than arrow icon as a separator.

Start> Settings> Network Connections> right click on the device you want to change, select properties, then uncheck the box that says "Show icon on taskbar when connected".

Thanks for your reply. I should have made it more clear, the icon I was refering to is the blue Bluetooth icon that appears after you install BT drivers from IBM...

For the wireless adapter there is a green icon, not part of windows, that appears when there is a connection. If you click on the icon it will display information about your card. It is somehow related to the ibm access connection.
