Difference between T43 type 18xx and 26xx?

#1 Post by SteveS » Tue Jul 10, 2007 6:06 pm

In scanning used T40 series on e-bay, I see quite a few T43 that are type 1871-xxx. The newer T43s are all type 26xx-xxx. I searched the forum and see that the 18xx series did not support DVI monitors. Is anyone aware of anything else that changed(perhaps they don't have the SATA to PATA bridge chip)?

18xx models have the Intel integrated graphics, whilst the 26xx models have the ATI dedicated graphics. That's pretty much the main difference.

Its not matter of newer or older, the 18xx and 26xx models were in concurrent production (and aimed at differening market segments) over the production life of the T43 platform.

Higher volume buyers often showed a preference for 18xx models while lower volume and individual buyers often showed a preference for 26xx models.
