sound problem after electrical surge

I have 2 A31, few days ago we lost electricity at home while the laptops were on. both went on working because the batteries were fine. but the sound for both of them has been reduced even at the max set up of the sound controlers, any idea what could that be.

It seems unlikely a simple power failure could cause that. I unplug my T41 all the time, and it is been in a power failure situation. The sound doesn't change because of that. There could have been some kind of surge, but otherwise, I don't know. ... JDH
