I would like a small footprint....hopefully under 15" in length with wireless USB720 attached.
Will be using the T or X or whatever for email (AOL), surfing (IE) and LogMeIn (similar to version of GoToMyPC) and the occasional burning of a DVD.
Screen resolution should be something that these old eyes can easily read (I had another post about 800 x600). I would like to run XP. Do I need the 2GB memory? Do I need the additional 3 years of depot service? Do I need the best graphics (no)? Will never play any games so integrated graphics is A-OK. I would like to keep the price under $1500.00 shipped/taxes.
What do you think I need?
Have priced out the T60/61 with certain options (that I am not sure I am going to need and come up around $1500/1600 without shipping/taxes.
If you think I should get an X, I will repost in the proper section. But, I do think I would like the T keyboard and features. I also will not be transporting this computer (battery life is not an issue) but it must fit a specific location.
Thanks.

The X series has a 12.1" 1024x768 (i.e. XGA) screen, on which things will look too small. The 15.0" XGA T or R series would be your best option. If you can't get one of those, the 15.4" 1280x800 (i.e. WXGA) T or R series would be the second best. Avoid everything else.dssxxxx wrote:Will be using the T or X....Screen resolution should be something that these old eyes can easily read
If you're ordering from Lenovo, get 512MB on one DIMM. Buy a 1GB PC2-5300 module elsewhere (e.g. frys.com, newegg.com, crucial.com) and upgrade yourself to save lots of money. But 512MB is already pretty good for XP, so you may not even need to upgrade.dssxxxx wrote:Do I need the 2GB memory?
It depends on how well you maintain your computers, and whether you know how to fix minor problems. If you rarely cause damages to your computers, and are good at making simple repairs, then the base warranty is enough.dssxxxx wrote:Do I need the additional 3 years of depot service?
