T60 sort of screen flicker when wmp starts

Hi forum

I just got a Thinkpad T60. It has a Mobility Radeon X1400 graphics engine. I noticed a short flicker (display off and on) if I start Mediaplayer. This possibly happens every time an application using overlay is started.

Is there a way to stop this flickering? Where does it come from?

And the other problem is, I can't turn off the lcd screen if windows media player is running. (using fn+f3 -> power off lcd) Any ideas?
