FS: Lenovo T60p (8744-C9U)

#1 Post by Ad Hoc » Thu Jul 12, 2007 5:15 pm

Hello all,

I need to get a different laptop because the FireGL V5250 in this T60p does not work well with the CAD tools I work with. There is absolutely nothing wrong with this system (it is in perfect condition), I just need a different video card. I might purchase a new T61p, because my quadro in my desktop seems to do a much better job (i.e. no application crashes). I purchased this system from Euclid computers on Jan 21 2007, so this system is about 6 months old. The battery is still in good condition, and the battery monitor reports that it has been through 48 cycles.

The model number is 8744-c9u and has the following features:
T7200(2GHz)
2GB RAM
100GB 7200rpm HD
15.4in 1680x1050 LCD
256MB ATI FireGL V5250
CDRW/DVDRW
Lenovo 802.11n wireless
Bluetooth/Modem
1Gb Ethernet
UltraNav
Secure chip
Fingerprint reader
9c Li-Ion batt
WinXP Pro
3-year limited Lenovo warranty (EZServ) - valid until 12/28/2009

I also have Windows Vista Ultimate that I have installed on this computer. If interested, I can also sell that as well.

Asking: $1400 shipped in the US. I will accept PayPal only! Thanks. Heatware id ad hoc, heatware registered email derek.walters AT gmail.com

Ad hoc, have you tried using an external monitor, most of the customers I deal with (engineering firms) use dual monitors for thier CAD setups. It's a sweet looking machine and overall good deal :)

Yes, I've tried a dual monitor (using the DVI connection on the dock). It is really a sweet machine! I just need to get a different machine with the issues I have with the ATI card. I think the T61p is out (with an nvidia card), and I'll probably just get that due to my wonderful experience with this Lenovo.

We are in the year 2007. You had to mean Jan 21 2007 for the machine to be only 6 months old. Or did you really mean 18 months old?

In my opinion, this is a superb price for this T60p. I have the exact same model (8744-C9U) and paid almost $2300 for it in February of this year. Raise your price Ad Hoc-you are making the value of mine drop! :D
I lost count...

Well, the fact is that this model today sell for $1865,- at Euclid Computers (incl. delivery, and not used, but brand new, and with the full 3-year warranty). That's the way it always is with prices on computers: Prices drops faster than actual worth-of-use. Annoying! :-(

Thanks for your input Johan, but you can also look at it like this: I'm providing a 6 month-old laptop in perfect condition at a ~25% discount to one brand new. There is even 2.5 years left on the warranty. For a top-end T60p, I think it is a rather good deal! 8)
