Is there a good guide here to setting up my new laptop?

I have a T61 that just shipped, and I've never setup a computer on my own from the factory.

Is there a good guide anywhere here with suggestions/tips on setup? I would also be interested in any tips to improve performance or useability as well.

Thanks in advance!

Have you considered using the stock settings for a few days first?

Do yourself a favor and create a set of Product Recovery disks before experimenting anything on your notebook.

Click Start > Select All Programs > Select Thinkvantage > Click Create Recovery Media > Recovery Discs.
"I've come a long, long way," she said, "and I will go as far,
With the man who takes me from my horse, and leads me to a bar."
The man who took her off her steed, and stood her to a beer,
Were a bleary-eyed Surveyor and a DRUNKEN ENGINEER.

Best advice: boot it up, see that it works ok and is not DOA. Then reboot and restore the thing. Take out all the lenovo crap apart from fingerprint, power manager and presentation director. get rid of the google junk as well. Your system will be happier
