New keyboard on X40 has funky TrackPoint

#1 Post by svandoorn » Sun Jul 15, 2007 5:32 am

Hi guys, I replaced the keyboard on my dad's X40 and now the Trackpoint is a bit funky. To move the cursor to the left is really easy, however, moving the cursor to the right requires significantly more pressure! What's going on? Is there anyway I can "reset" the trackpoint? Thanks!

I am not sure if there is a way to reset the keyboard. It sounds like the new keyboard could be bad.

If whether this helps. Go to "Mouse" in "Control Panel", open the menu for TrackPoint, and move the TrackPoint sensitivity slider to the right. Also try increasing the pointer speed in the "Pointer Option" menu.

Thanks for the help guys. sugo, I bought this keyboard a while ago off of ebay and just installed. I doubt I could exchange it =( pianowizard, I already tried that. It makes the cursor fly to the left but it still chugs along when moving to the right :(

It might still worth contacting the seller. Too bad my extra T42 keyboard won't fit the X40.

Is your X40 still under warranty?

Hey sugo, there's actually nothing wrong with the X40's old keyboard. It's just that the keys are a little worn. I'll just switch all the keys from the new keyboard onto the old one :D
