Cheap Bluetooth-without disassembling screen! instock again

#1 Post by aaa » Sun Jul 15, 2007 7:52 am

I posted this link before, but again:

http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.ph ... ht=#301775
Direct link: In stock again!

Antenna: http://search.ebay.com/_W0QQsassZvinniemakQQhtZ-1

Total is about $33 for everything, there was somebody else on ebay offering the card/antenna/LED for about $46, but that involves disassembling your display. With the antenna I linked, being very short and compact, it fits right next to the bluetooth card. I tried the card without an antenna, but ended up having to hold my phone to the upper left corner of the laptop for it to work  ... so I got that antenna and now I can detect the phone from other rooms.

Another issue: the no1802 must be undone and redone for the bluetooth to be detected.

Do you mean the antenna described as "MINI PCI WIRELESS 802.11G ANTENNA BLUETOOTH DELL LAPTOP" ??

Cheers,

Bill

Yep. There are all sorts of antennae that will work, basically any wifi antenna, but this is the smallest one I've seen.

What's wrong with something like this:

I ordered the black one for only $6.11 USD

nothing "wrong" per se with a dongle, it's just an inelegant solution... :)

i even have a few floating around... and i suppose that as long as i have a wireless card sticking out the side, a dongle wouldn't really "hurt"... i'd just like to get it internal...

Oh no. Not that. Especially *that*. Thing fell apart within DAYS. I specifically told my sister to get a laptop with builtin bluetooth, she doesn't and gets that... thing. Well at least it kinda works still even though the plastic fell off
