R50p refuses to stand by with cd-rw player in ultrabay

#1 Post by frogger3d » Sun Jul 15, 2007 3:22 pm

My laptop, an R50p, refuses to go into standby (suspend) mode while the cd-rw player is in the ultrabay.

When I press fn-f4 the screen blinks a few times, the screen turns blue and states "Preparing to stand by...". The moon led indicator turns on and all other indicators turn off, however the laptop wakes up almost immediately afterwards. When I remove the drive from the ultrabay the laptop stays in standby mode..

anyone else have this problem?

I found a workaround. When I use EasyEject (fn-f9) to disconnect the cd-player, stand by works perfectly. It even redetects my cdplayer upon returning from standby and I don't even need to physically remove it from the system.
