Would you buy this usb card??

#1 Post by SaberX » Sun Jul 15, 2007 6:19 pm

I'm looking at buying a pcmcia USB 2.0 card .
I have been looking on e-bay for the last hr or so.Theres alot of pcmcia 2sb 2 or 4 port cards out there.
I serched for sellers in Canada first,Because thats where i'm to.Seems from Canada they are about $20.00 or more.
Same from the USA.
But over in Hong Kong they sell them alot cheaper.
Like this one in the link.

If you were looking to buy a pcmcia usb card , would you buy the one in the link above?

Thanks
Bill

It looks good on paper - both ports are powered usb ports. It costs less than USD $10 including shipping.

Ya they say it's 100% brand new.Comes with card, extra usb power cable and cd.
Looks good for $9.30 shipped to Canada.
They also have a 4 port usb 2.0 card for $11.00 shipped to Canada.
I'm thinking for the extra $1.70 i'm better off getting the 4 port one.

I would look at getting one with firewire and usb 2.0 but i dont have anything with firewire. Also the A22P i'm getting it for has S-Video input if i need it.
I guess there feedback at over 80,000 with 98.5% rate is not bad.
It's only $11.00 so i'll take my chances and see what it's like.
Just a note here in town the computer stores here have the 4 port pcmcia card in stock but they want $49.99 and 14% tax for them.
Funny i can get one sent to my door from Hong Kong for 1/4 th the price.

I had no use for Firewaire, until I started uploading videos onto YouTube. My JVC camera will allow me to transfer digital video from the camcorder to my laptop, but only through the Firewire connection. The USB connection will only transfer the digital pictures that were saved to the SD card.

ebay link
Since they only claim compatibility, it's possible that they are not genuine IBM/Lenovo parts. The genuine parts are made in Japan. They put a lot of engineering into them.

That USB card looks a good deal for sure. And those trackpoint caps seem to look a bit unauthentic and possibly a little bit too glossy to be genuine IBM ones IMO. They look different from the soft rim pics I've seen around here.
