FS:IBM keyboard

#1 Post by SaberX » Mon Jul 16, 2007 9:13 am

I have a very nice IBM USB keyboard.
FRU# 19K1760.
For some strange reason if you google the FRU #"19K1760" the first 4 or 5 hit's shows this keyboard for sale at a price of over $100.00(one price of just under 200.00).Am i missing something about this keyboard or are the google hit's just way out of date?

But it's a black USB IBM keyboard that has a two port usb hub on it.
In great shape.
Sorry i can get any pic's,digital cam is at sisters house.

Looking for any fair offer + shipping.

I should add that i'm NOT looking for $100.00 for it,thats crazy.I was just poinging out what some web sites are looking to get for it.
My post was sounding like i had a value of about 100.00 for it.

I was thinking more on the lines of $15.00 + shipping.

I just thought i would post this...
The other IBM keyboard i'm keeping is FRU:04K0051
I just did a ebay serch for this one and it came back with this ...
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 0134301680

and
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 0142546317

So at almost $400.00 for a IBM keyboard, what are the older IBM boards lined with gold or something??

IT equipment expresser is one of the worst sellers on ebay. Don't compare with their highly bloated prices!
Now: T60 2613-EKU | T23 2647-9NU | 600X 2645-9FU | HP 100LX
Past: X31 2673-Y13 | T41 2374-3HU | T22 2647-AEU

Rules of the road :thumbs-UP:

The first keyboard you had listed I found for $57. Assuming that is is used, $30 to 35 shipped would be a good deal.

Well ... they are overpriced ... but that's a black Model M (buckling-spring keyboard) with a TrackPoint, a rather rare combination. I would expect that to go for $100+ at a reasonable reseller.

In my mind, that's the most desirable keyboard in the world! If I found one such reasonable reseller I would not hesitate to pay $150 for one.

When available, they tend to sell for up to $200. Plain ordinary model Ms of the non-collectable variety still get $70 for new unopened late 1990s models, prices go up astronomically with rarity.

What are some FRU #'s that are the keyboards that are the "collectable" ones?

What about the IBM PS/2 keyboard(black) with trackpoint , FRU:04K0051?
Where would this keyboard be placed? As just a cheap IBM keyboard or one of the better ones?
If it's worth any money maybe i'll sell this one....

I have no clue which FRUs are rare or collectable, only that Buckling Spring Model M keyboards hold their values, and special models, like those with trackpoints, small ones (no number pad), black ones and especially the split ergonomic ones are extremely rare and expensive. If you want FRU numbers, though, you'll have to look them up yourself.

I have four model M keyboards, though none are special ones. I have the one that came with a brand new IBM PS/2 computer in 1988, and three more that I bought as new/unsold units this year at $70 each. Those three were all made between 1997 and 1999.

Alas, it's a conventional rubber-dome keyboard, not a buckling-spring Model M, so it won't be in the stratosphere. You should still be able to get more for it than for a TrackPoint-less keyboard, though.

My last Model M was an M2 from an IBM PS/1: the real Model M keyboard in a more compact package -- and worth more than the rest of the PS/1. :)

My 19-year-old Model M that came with a new PS/2 system is worth more today than a dozen PS/2 computers. After a nice deep-cleaning it is again like-new, and an absolute joy to use.
