Benefits of upgrading firmware in non-IBM HD

#1 Post by GoyoNeuff » Mon Jul 16, 2007 1:05 pm

Hi all,

I'm about to update my current HD for either the Hitachi 7K100, or the Seagate 7200.1
As my signature says, I have a T42, so I am not expecting the 2010 error, therefore my question is:
What benefits do I get if I update the HD with the IBM firmware (following the steps that have been posted in our forum) ?
Will the actual HD features such as "air-bag" protection work in the new HD after I clone the old 40GB (with either Acronis or Ghost)?
Should I just clone the HD and that's it?

Thank you very much all,

K.
