Can I still get a T60p 14"?

#1 Post by pipspeak » Tue Jul 17, 2007 8:53 pm

There's no sign of a 14" late-model (Santa Rosa) T60p on the Lenovo website, just the 15" flexview. Does anyone know if they're still available through Lenovo or do I now have to go through a reseller?

None of the T60/60p's had Santa Rosa. You can still get 14.1" T60p's on costcentral.com and euclidcomputers.com.

Sorry, my mistake... I meant a T60p with a Core 2 Duo processor (pre-Santa Rosa, T7600). I'll check euclid.

I just called Lenovo Sales asking for a 14.1" T60, they told me they don't plan on selling them any longer and recommended the 14.1" widescreen T61 to me. I bit, and they threw in a nice educational discount.

Might take a few tries but if you find a nice rep, they really work well with you, get their extension number and call them direct for any further questions, its much easier.

You'll likely be very happy with the new machine, but you should know that a 14.1" widescreen is slightly smaller than a 14.1" regular screen.

I think the 14.1" widescreen would be the second best choice, but my first would be a 13.3" regular, which I got used to on my 600X, and can't be found in a ThinkPad at all nowadays.

That's odd; I just ordered (via our IT folks 1-2 days ago) a T60 directly through Lenovo with a Core 2 Duo and 14.1" non-widescreen display.

Odder still is the fact that all employees my company use either T60 or T60p with Core 2 Duo and 14.1" non-widescreen displays (except for some business folks who use X series). This is still the case as a new hire's computer just arrived from the supplier yesterday and it's a T60 C2D 14.1".

Edit: Realized after I posted that everyone is using T60/p, not just the IT folks.

Not that odd. I can still order the 1951V7N T60 and the 2007VYH T60p (both 14.1" SXGA+) from Lenovo through my alma mater. There aren't that many units left though, 15 for the former and 30 for the latter. I guess Lenovo has stopped selling 14.1" 4:3 T60's only on their public site.

You cannot custom order a 14" 4:3 T60, but I think if you phone and ask, they still have some pre-configured models available. They lowered those prices, too.
