T42 Thinkvantage update.. now volume/access ibm won't work?

i downloaded the latest thinkpad updates from lenovo.. it's the first time i've ever actually done the update for my T42 in the 3-4 years since i bought it new. now, when i try to use my volume controls above the keyboard, they apparently still work, but i don't get green onscreen volume indicator like i used to.. same with turning the thinklight on and off. also, now my access ibm key dosen't work.. i have to go into the start menu to get to access ibm. any ideas?
