How do I connect T60p to my old TV?

#1 Post by Teerex » Wed Jul 18, 2007 8:21 am

Hi, I'm trying to connect my T60p to my old TV to watch DVD's etc. from the computer on the TV.

Which cables do I need for that?

BTW: I'm located in Denmark, Europe.

Thanks

Rex

Rex, a cable won't do the job. You'll need a VGA to PAL (or NTSC) converter. Some are really cheap garbage, some are quite usable, and some are really excellent, professional, expensive devices.

Entering "VGA to TV" in Amazon shows a lot of possibilities. The $3 and $4 cables are for specific video cards. The $35 to $100 options will do a fine job. Make sure the converter you get has PAL output if you need it.

Whizkid's recommendation will definitely work, but depending on what kind of outputs on are your T60p and inputs are on your TV you might have some other options (athough they will most likely be of lesser quality than the previous suggestion).

In the past I've used S-Video to S-Video and S-Video to Composite to display on my TV, but this is only going to work given the correct input/output ports. I know my T60 doesnt have S-Video out (which is unfortunate because it's the cheapest solution I know of), so again it really depends on what you have available.

My tried and true formula is to search Amazon (or even Google) for: "<whatever output is on my laptop> to <whatever input is on my TV> cable" and seeing what comes up.

Hopefully you can find an easy, effective solution.
