Can't read specific DVD -- format compatible w/ T43 drive?

#1 Post by alexmoss » Wed Jul 18, 2007 2:11 pm

My T43 can not play a DVD from a client, it's a DVD+R DL format. I'm wondering if this format is possibly incompatible w/ the drive in my system -- it's the factory installed combo CD writer / DVD reader that goes into the ultra slim bay slot. I'm not aware of any other problems with the drive.

My colleague can play the same DVD on her Dell desktop system, so the DVD does not appear to be bad. My T43 can play other disks, so my hardware does not appear to be bad.

I tried it w/ WinDVD (factory installed and then updated), also w/ QuickTime.

Suggestions? Thanks.

The problem is the DVD is a dual layer disc which the drive in your T43 cannot read. You will need to upgrade the drive to a DVD-RW DL drive in order to use the dvd. Your colleague has a dual layer driver in their dell so it can read the disc.
I have finally rejoined the dark side.

Ah ha, that makes sense -- too bad, but clear, thanks very much.
