upgrading an IBM a21M 2628F1U

hi to the list:
I am considering upgrading my laptop motherboard with as fast as possible cpuu.
I now have a pentium111 750 mhz and 128 mg of ram. Any suggestions woud be
greatly appreciated.

You may need to check, but most A21m had the CPU soldered to the motherboard so it cannot be replaced. You will need to upgrade the entire motherboard with a faster CPU to get a faster speed. The A21m can have a maximum of 512MB of RAM (2x256MB PC100 DIMM). The ram would be the first thing I upgrade and see if it runs faster for what you need it for. Also, a 7,200 RPM Hard drive with 8mb cache will also increase speed.

Thanks for your reply. My purpose to this upgrade is to clean install either windows XP or vista. Would this be possible with one of more upgrade options.
I have been considering a new mother board for some time due to a battery charging , cannot run off battery even when a volt meter reads atleast 10 Volts. issue.
