FS: 770X. 770. and lots of accessories

#1 Post by rodgermcliff » Wed Jul 18, 2007 11:42 pm

Ok... I am going [have gone] over to the dark side and am going to sell my 770 collection. I am looking for suggestions as to what it is worth. This is my best guess as to what I have. Will have exact part numbers, quantities, etc. when it is offcially up for sale [soon].

- 770X, 266PII (?), 128M RAM, 13.1 GB HD, Win2K, DEVA adapter, battery not good, display good, some case scratches, software installed to play DVDs, OpenOffice
- 770 233P-MMX, 128 MB RAM(?), 8 GB HD(?), Win2K, no battery, display good, some case scratches, USB connector flaky (can play DVDs if/when DEVA installed), OpenOffice
- 1 aftermarket DVD drive in 770 shell
- 1 aftermarket CDRW drive in 770 shell,
- 8 GB HD in second HD adapter
- 2 floppy drives and 1 (2?) remote cables
- 2 IBM DEVA cables
- port replicator (top for full docking station)
- 3 power supplies
- 2 cases (Targus and IBM)
- 3 aftermarket "drive" cases
- 1 IBM padded drive case
- 2 aftermarket accessory cases
- 1 802.11B 3Com X-jack card
- 1 ethernet card (either a dongle card or a Xircom... not sure which will go)
- 1 IBM external mic adapter
- box of drive and battery parts (may have a 2nd battery adapter, can't remember for sure)

This was my main laptop and a backup and enough accessories to sink a boat. Let me know your thoughts as to pricing. (NOTE: not looking to break it up, but to sell it whole.)

Arguably if you part it up it would be worth a whole lot more, and no one even touches them at $31 on Ebay. Of course, the listings also do not have the variety of devices you have for yours. Myself, I would wager to say around the neighborhood of $70-$90 for both, especially since other Thinkpad models with slightly better specs can be had for around that price. I am not a Thinkpad buyer though.

If I were you, I'd keep them as project laptops. Perhaps serve up MP3s or something on a home network. Or you could donate them to me at the price of shipping :P

Perhaps someone wants to move this to the Marketplace so pros can take a look?

EDIT: Someone beat me to the move...

Thanks for the response.

I posted it in the 770 section first to get some idea of what they were worth. I planned to post a formal for sale ad in this forum when I had an idea of what to ask. (FYI: I was always told the 770's were worth more than the 600's (comparably equipped) and I have seen 600's going for over a $100 each.)

Since this was prematurely moved into the for sale forum, I will take offers on the whole package first. If you want to e-mail me offers on invidual pieces, I will hold them for a bit to give someone a chance to come forward for the whole lot.

If I may ask, what is the "dark side"?
