Linux Display Issues

Hi

I installed Redhat Linux 9.0 on Virtual PC, but I am having Display issues, I am not able to Increase the screeen resolution from 800x600,
when I ever I change resoultion the Startx Crashes,...
Could some one provide me the
Horizontal and Vertical Refresh Rates for
Thinkpad T42 2378 DXU (15'' SXGA) monitor

This might help. I found it when I was trying to get my R51 to display at it's full resolution under slackware 10.1.

Yes, it's in another language, but the screenshots are in english. I'm also not sure how safe this is, so if some one else could confirm if this is a safe solution it would be appreciated.

if you trigger "xf86cfg" from your vpc terminal, it should autodetect usable settings and maximum resolution for you.
