ThinkPad R40

I have a ThinkPad R40 with IBM preload XP Home on it. There were originally 2 different boot screens, one XP Home boot screen and an IBM boot screen. I have a program that lets you use different bootscreens but its only allowing it to work where the XP boot screen was (which only lasts a second) and then the IBM screen follows. How do set it up where the boot screen I want shows the whole time while booting?
