recording without a line in port?

I am I correct to assume that since there is not a line in port on the sound card, that the mic port will provide the same capability?

I am looking to take some recordings off of an analog cassette, deck and record them onto my z61m. I have it setup so that the output is able to go out through a 3.5mm or 1/8 inch stereo plug, and if there was a line in I would use it to record to Soundforge or Cool Edit Pro.

Nothing in the documentation or website seems to mention anything about this, whereas my old ThinkPad had a line in option.

I'm hoping that I do not have to get a USB sound card.
