Maybe you need to post more specific requirements (and price expectations), then ...

The laptop is for my brother and I know for fact that he plays games, so I prefer to go with better graphic.

The X1400 has about 50% better 3D performance -- but X1300 might be enough, depending on the kinds of games he plays. For example, WoW will likely not show a difference between the two.

You won't find a new X1400-equipped thinkpad in canada for $1100 because those machines always come loaded with higher end processors and options that run the price up. Even tho the X1400 costs only $50 more than the X1300.

I'm certain you'll have to go stateside (and smuggle it back), or buy used in canada.

Here's a good find: a $1025 for a used T60p in canada with great specs today:

I don't like to buy used laptops off ebay tho. This one might or might not have been fried. The FireGL and X1400 overheat the T60 in the 14" form factor, and Lenovo is increasingly balking on the warranty if they can claim any possibility of "abuse".

Another thing.... video RAM isn't the most important thing for gaming performance. Speed probably matters more. The 64mb 9600 Radeon outperformed the 128mb FireGL on the T42. Read:

There's also a review on that website about the gaming capabilities of an X1300-equpped T60. I'm sold out, but if you want one, I'd have to see if I can get another from IBM (I work there and resell them on rare occasions at our cost just for fun).

Thanks for ur reply.

do all T60s in the 14" form factor built with x1400 suffer from overheat problems?
