Thinkpad with the brightest screen?

#1 Post by nmuntz » Sun Jul 22, 2007 5:31 pm

Both my T43 (SVGA+) and T21 (XGA) aren't very good for sitting outside in the backyard. Even when it's cloudy, they're just too dim to be comfortable to use. The screens on both of these machines are quite new so it's not a matter of them just being worn out. In the house they're fine. My dad's old A31 seems to be much brighter than either of my machines. Can anyone who has seen a lot of Thinkpads make a recommendation for a model that has a really bright screen? Size, weight, performance and battery life aren't important.

T61/p
"I've come a long, long way," she said, "and I will go as far,
With the man who takes me from my horse, and leads me to a bar."
The man who took her off her steed, and stood her to a beer,
Were a bleary-eyed Surveyor and a DRUNKEN ENGINEER.

No Thinkpad is really bright, but the following are brighter than average:

Z60/61 with MaxBright
X60/61s with Ultralight screen

In addition to that, X60/61 Tablets have optional Multiview screens which employ a special technology to enhance outdoor viewability, without being super bright.
