T43 vs. T43p

#1 Post by mshaw » Sun Jul 22, 2007 6:34 pm

This is probably a FAQ, but I can't find the answer anywhere....

What is the difference between the Txx series and the Txxp series? Specifically the T43 and T43p.

Thanks!

The "p" denotes a high-performance model. Generally that means the availability of faster processors, high-performance graphics and higher-resolution display panels.

mshaw, go to this site and download "ltwbook" and "tabook". They list most of the T43 and T43p models. Compare their specs.

Besides that, the "P" series fan is better, i'm not disturbed by it in normal operations and the sound is linear (no spikes).

I tryed an HP on Windows2003 but the fan runs at full speed all the time...u wown't like that.

The main difference of the typical model (such as T43) and the 'p' model (T43p) are graphic card, and also display options. For the specific T43p, you will get an ATI FireGL V3200 while in T43, you will get a lower-end X300 or integrated graphics.

ATI V3200 is positioned to be a (little more) professional graphic card that support OpenGL and 3D applications while X300 is enough for a typical office, web browser, business use. However, if you compare the professional graphic cards offered by IBM/Lenovo and HP or Dell, ATI V3200 is the low end of those professional cards and cannot do much for a hard core 3D and also not much for gaming.

For display, T43p has the option for UXGA (1600x1200) on 15" and SVGA+ (1400x1050) while T43 has only 1400x1050 and lower resolution screen.

For other options like processors, memory, hard drive, they're not different and provide options to choose from.
