It isn't quite a sister forum, but it has been around for quite some time, too. Actually this forum picked up a few users, when they sustained a pretty lengthy website outage last year.

There are many forums and mailing lists for ThinkPads. There's even a couple of newsgroups for them. None of them are connected to this one although even some of the admins and mods here belong to and participate elsewhere - you'll even see Bill posting to the mailing list. I don't think of us as rivals - we're all just part of the overall user community.

I agree, it's just a giant community, with different forums for different purposes (and from different eras.)

Heck, if you count all of the forums that have ThinkPad forums... I've even got one on my Model M forum. (Tried to help it with some extra content... unfortunately, the forum is pretty much a failure.)

You'd be welcome to start one in the R series forum if there wasn't one already...my German is non existent but it looks like a "What R series do you own sort of thread" that you've linked to. There's a "What T4x model do you own" thread in the T4x forum.
