Random Distorted Audio (at least on my T60)

#1 Post by shinjiplus » Mon Jul 23, 2007 1:08 pm

sometimes the audio on my T60 (running vista, of course) becomes distorted.

the most common time is when the windows live messenger (aka msn messenger) is in the background and the incoming message noise comes in.

it sounds like the speaker cage (if there is one) is vibrating. but the next noise is fine.

if it's a prolonged sound, like audio in an mp3 or a video, it will remain distorted until i stop and restart the source.

any ideas?

I had audio that would lag and smash up at random intervals when I had Vista on my T43, but would catch up in a half second. I couldn't do a raw recording of audio either (with Audacity or Sound Recorder)

It is the only reason I ditched Vista and went back to XP, the other issues like the failure of presentatoin manager and whatnot didn't bother me so much.

Distorted audio

I have a t60p that i upgraded to Vista a while back. Others too were having audio issues, as was i. System Update downloads a new audio driver, that i believe is causing the issues. System update tries to download version (6........) , but if you look at the lenovo website, http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... MIGR-62855 you will see that it shows an earlier version as the current driver. (5.10.1.4326). When i unstalled the version 6 that was installed from System update, and rolled back to version 5.10, my distortion went away.

thanks for the tip stephenaron, i'll try the older driver.

i'm having a pretty good experience with Vista, Domain, aside from minor problems here and there. i have to keep vista for work purposes :)
