I spoke with IBM direct today about buying a Dothan 738 X40 with 512 Meg. (model 2382HCU). I asked how much negotiating room there was in the prices listed on the IBM website. The sales rep said I could get a 5% discount as a first time IBM buyer.
Does anyone know, or have expereince with, how much leeway in price the sales reps have to play with? If I pushed, might I be able to get a 10% or even 15% discount?
Discounts on Dothan X40?
I know that there is a 12 year aniversary sale for 12 days till Nov. 1st, with a 15% discount on selected items. So I talked with the sales person over the phone, unfortunately 2382HCU isn't one of them.
