Thinkpad A20m and SpeedTouch 330 USB ADSL modem

#1 Post by cooper_n » Tue Jul 24, 2007 9:45 am

Folks,

I use mint condition A20m (2628) running XP SP2 home with latest MS updates, latest bios 1.13 and latest modem drivers. No malware or viruses.

Very reliable except when using the ST330 modem, which is perfect for a few minutes then it slows down and stops and the USB led flashes red. ADSL led remains green.

The Thomson SpeedTouch 330 modem requires USB 1.1 which I believe the A20m has. (12Mbs)

The modem works perfectly on my Compaq Deskpro which has XP Pro SP2.

Has anyone any info about compatibility of SpeedTouch 330 and Thinkpad A20m?

Any info about dodgy USB chip or usb driver on A20m?

Cheers

Solved. Used special Thomson modem driver which forces USB port to run in bulk mode.
