External Hard Drive

#1 Post by t-rex » Tue Jul 24, 2007 5:44 pm

hello,
i've got a t 23 and use an external hard often. i got my hands on a used seagate 250gb 3.5" drive and bought an enclosure from ebay.
the drive failed and seagate sent me a new one.
heres the problem its a raw unformatted drive sata the computer sees it but gives me no way to accsess it. the enclosure
supports pata or sata, the three computers in the house are pata
t23 t22 tc8188. i tried using the drive as the primary in the desktop
using the card that came in the enclosure as a sata to pata adapter no luck.
anyone know of a utility i can use to format this drive?
thanks in advance for all replies

If you are running a recent version of Windows, go to the "Computer Management" console (right click on "Your Computer" and select the "Manage" menu item, then select "Disk Manager" within the CM console) and see if the drive is visible there.

If it is, you should be able to format and partition it from with the Disk Manager.

Cheers,
