Hello,
since a few weeks I have a problem with the fingerprint reader on a T43p, model: 2668-F8G, running: Vista Enterprise!
The fingerprint reader system works fine for a few days but suddenly I get an error message while the notebook awakes from "Suspend To Ram":
Code: 0xe7210001
Internal error (Interner Fehler)
(rpnpipe: (rd(996))
From this time on the system doesn't find the finger print reader hardware till I uninstall and reinstall the necessary drivers/software. The system then works fine for a few days until the same problem occurs again.
I have installed the latest IBM/Lenovo drivers/software. Bios and Embedded Controller software is flashed to actual versions.
I didn't have the problem under XP! (Please no hints to uninstall Vista and use XP instead - I need Vista for work.)
Greetings,
Martin
T43p - Vista: fingerprint reader problem (driver/hardware)
An internal error occured (rpnpipe: rd(996))
I'm seeing the name thing in the past few days on a T60p running Vista Enterprise. I actually don't use the Fingerprint feature any more, but the error nonetheless occurs per mgartner's July post.
Annoyingly, the error is locked in a loop and you can't remove it until reboot (or just move it to one side of the screen).
It seemed to occur after some updates I made from Lenovo System Update 3 -- and there were a bunch -- but none overtly concerned with the Fingerprint reader. I also made a couple of Windows Update updates the same day.
Anyone else?
Unfortunately these errors don't seem to trigger an OS error event, so nothing's sent to Microsoft or similar. I also don't see anything recorded in the system error logs (perfmon.exe, eventvwr.exe).
Fingerprint Sensor in Control Panel shows:
Device name: TouchChip Fingerprint Coprocessor
Device Version: 4.2.25
Firmware variant: 20000001
Usage: 80000000
Sensor Type: f8000020
Available Memory: 10332
System ID: 1000d
System Name: Lenovo Davinci 2
