These tablet screens are tough to clean!

And I definitely know how to properly clean an LCD screen-but this multiview/multitouch screen is very hard to get clean. I just received an X61t 7767-B7U yesterday, and earlier today I noticed that the screen was covered in fingerprints and marks from where I had written on the screen-you could actually see everything I had written using the pen marked on the LCD.

I used the Office Depot LCD screen cleaner I have and a microfiber cloth to clean it up-and for the first time ever, it made it worse. The screen looked hazed and none of the markings came off. So I got another clean microfiber, dipped it in water lightly, and wiped again. I had to put a good bit of pressure on the screen (more than I ever have before), but it finally came perfectly clean again.

Maybe it's time for a film shield....

Aren't there cloths available made of "optic-fibers" or something? Opticians use those and they're usually quite big, much bigger than those you ordinary buy for cleaning prescription glasses.

i would not spray anything onto the screen. Use a Microfiber cloth with light pressure and you should be able to get rid of all those fingerprints

Speaking of Tablet screen. How "durable" is it after prolonged ues - inking/writing on screen? In other words - is it very sensitive to small dust particles over which one should (not) write with digitizer etc.

I've never owned a tablet but had PDAs before and they were very sensitive and eventually - scratches were made visible...

You should be able to-but I was not. Just getting the microfiber damp with water helped, but it took a fair amount of pressure to get it pristine.

I tried to clean my X61T's Superview SXGA+ screen earlier this week, and it was difficult for me too.

For my X60t (and A31p), wiping with the Radtech Screensavrz (Microfiber cloth made especially for LCD screens of laptops) helps a lot. When absolutely necessary, a spritz of Klearscreen and a few quick wipes makes the screen pristine.

With my X61t, the Screensavrz does almost nothing, and the Klearscreen leaves very noticable streaks. Its like I have to polish/buff the screen to get it clean/streak-free.

I recommend the 3M brand cloth. These come with Motion Computing tablets and have raised fiber loop bumps that probably gives it more surface area. It's very good at lifting oils and prints from even anti-reflective coated surfaces. It's also available at some optical and office product stores.

On this loaner SXGA+ X61t I've got in front of me, I used the solution and cloth that came with my anti-reflective eyeglasses, and sprayed the solution onto the cloth, rather than onto the LCD.

The solution made the oils a bit gooey, but then using a dry part of the cloth, it all came off very easily.

When it comes to cleaning any sort of screen, I tend to use a microfiber cloth which was shipped

with my Samsung-screens. Just spray water at the cloth and wipe over the screen (do it with

system don't wipe wildly over your poor screen). I recommend not to use any of this "super"

screen-cleaners the most of them just leave cords and stripes. (and hello to all, this is my first post in this forum)

My local Costco has eyeglass cleaner for just a few dollars for two bottles, and there's free refills! (in this punch-dispenser looking thing near the Optical department). Might be worth it so I don't feel bad about cleaning my LCD screens whenever they need it?

I'm still using the iKlear, and I've gotten better at it. It works better than anything else I've tried so far, although it works a lot more efficiently on every other LCD screen other than the X61t's "Superview."

My method now is to spritz twice directly on the screen, then wipe with my "screensavrz" cloth to get all the oilly stuff off. Then, I stop pressing down very hard, and "buff" the leftover streaks away.

I just been using an eyeglass cloth from my eye doc. I keep it spread out on the keyboard every time I shut the lid, just to give the trackpoint some protection against the screen. And than I always have it with me to clean the screen as needed.

In clean microfifer cloth put just a little of Ethyl Alcohol* in a 1:1 part with water. That should do the trick and your screen should not be harmed in any way.

*Now clinic Alcohol sometimes is added with aditives to strenght its antiseyptic properties... In that case, use only water just in case....

At the end, just wipe all the dampness with a dry part of the microfiber cloth.

I'm fighting with my X61t screen to get it clean .... Not so easy, but after long minutes, it's clean ....

the problem is that it becomes dirty very fast ... I just have ordered an EXIM screen protection and just wanted to know if after having apllied it, it's easier to clean ?

I've seen various sites recommend cleaning LCD panels with a solution of 50% store-bought rubbing alcohol and 50% water (similar to what edelrc recommends). I've been doing this for the past couple years and have never had any problems. I wear glasses so I just use a lint-free cloth that was provided with an old pair. This cleans any amount of fingerprints and dirt I've had on my screen with no problems. Because there is a bit of rubbing alcohol the cleaning solution evaporates off fairly quickly and does not leave residue that may streak, unlike water or even some of the lens cleaners I have for my glasses. I do have a screen shield as well, and it is easier to clean than the LCD alone.

I wouldn't try cleaning with 1:1 ethyl alcohol:water, however; I do handle absolute 100% ethyl alcohol (anhydrous) now and then at work, and even if you diluted that to 50% I'm worried it might remove some of the coating on the screen. Store bought rubbing alcohol is 70% isopropyl alcohol, so 1:1 store-bought:water would be 35% isopropyl, which is gentler.

I use the Exim on my x61 and my phone and it is very easy to clean up.... much easier than the regular screen. I recently bought the cheapest screen protector on ebay just to see what its like and I hope it also cleans (and applies) like the exim.

BTW... the exim is very easy to apply!

I use the ones that are available and sold by Panasonic to use on the ToughBook (top of the tree) laptop. This laptop has a similar screen to yours (my X60T has the SXGA+ screen...so no multitouch) and the cloth worked wonders on the screen...I continue to use them on my X60T...

Jus received my exim screen protector and I have to say that the application was very easy. I had some dust under, I just pulled the protector off again, remove the dust and there it go .... The screen is a little bit more glossy now, but it's very cool to use the pen with more confidence !!!!!

the only negative point is that the protector does not fit very well the size of the x61t, there is around 0,5 mm on each side of the screen left unprotected.... It's kinda distubing when using the scroll bar ...

From the supply cabinet at work, I've finally found a cleaning product/system that works effectively on the X61t's SXGA+ "Superview" screen. Its the "ScreenKleen" Wet-Dry pads by "Read Right."

In each "Twin-Pack" of this "cleaning system," the Wet Pad cleans really well (including marks from the keyboard and oils from my hand from inking), and the Dry Pad finishes up by getting rid of streaks.

Does the x61t screen have an antiglare coatings? I looked up screenkleen on amazon (they sell them too) and they warn not to use it on antiglare screens.

My dad likes to take used dryer sheets and clean his laptop screen, as it helps keep the static down.

I just use 50/50 rubbing alcohol/water.

Where did you see that? Are you sure its for the same product?

Here's a bit more information from the packaging:

For cleaning terminal and display screens.

Directions: Tear open foil packet and unfold pre-moistened pad to use. Wipe "Wet" pad evenly across screen. Immediately pen "Dry" pad, unfold, and wipe until screen is optically clear. Discard after one use.

You need a different solvent. Water cannot remove fingerprints without a detergent (which would leave a residue). I use commercial screen cleaner spray, but I've also had good luck with isopropanol. Only use a tiny bit.

Try using a clean 100% cotton t-shirt. It works great on my X61 Tablet.
