T61p order, need to find a case...

#1 Post by kelchm » Wed Jul 25, 2007 3:28 pm

I've ordered a T61p, but now I need to find a case/bag for caarying it around when I'm at school.

So far, I've found a few that I like. Out of these, I think the Booq Folee to be the most like what I want. But, at the same time I have a hard time stomaching the 200.00 price tag. Anyone have any suggestions that might be a little more economical?

A backpack should do just fine.
T42p - Pentium M 1.8Ghz, 1 GB RAM, 60 GB 7200 RPM, ATI Mobility FireGL T2 128MB
T61p - Core 2 Duo 7300, 3 GB RAM, 320 GB 7200 RPM, nVidia Quadro FX 570M 256MB

IBM makes an excellent backpack ... did you look at it?

I assume you mean this one?

It seems okay , but I'd like to see a review of it before I seriously considered it.

The only backpack I've found thus far that I really like is the Crumpler King Single

Thanks for that link. I read through that entire thread...

If money wasn't an issues, I think I would just go with the waterfield combo... but for the moment 200.00+ is alot to spend for a bag.

Looks like the crumpler stuff is well liked. So, if I can find a good deal on the king single thats what I'll go with.

I'm not sure that Targus is really what I'm looking for anyway.

I've been looking at the STM Evolution, but there are reports of the straps ripping off after a few weeks of use. Thats no good, considering my last bag [Jansport] has gone through 4 years of highschool and a few years of middle school. In fact, if it would accommodate a laptop I would probably still use that instead of buying a new one.

I'm interested in the booq Vyper exo XL with Vyper M2 for my T61p (on order). It looks like it should fit but I'm wondering about the 9 cell battery. The depth is listed as 10.2" (I'm assuming that excludes the battery) and the bag info. lists a depth of 11". I hope the battery protrudes less than 0.8", but, having never seen one, can anyone confirm it will fit?

Edit: Subsequently noticed that the sleeve won't fit, but I think the Vyper exo XL will fit.

I've heard that it extends ~1".

Hopefully someone can chime in with an exact measurement.
