X61 tablet screen bezel issue?

#1 Post by etherelithic » Wed Jul 25, 2007 6:33 pm

So I'm thinking about ordering an X61 tablet, and I've been very thoroughly combing both these forums and the tabletpcreview.com forums. One thing that the guys in the other forum consistently complain about is this bezel issue that I haven't really seen mentioned here. It has to do with the part of the screen bezel closest to the hinge. Apparently it isn't glued properly and when the tablet is opened the hinge will pull the bezel off of the screen, leaving a very notieable gap when the computer is in tablet mode. Any owners have this problem?

Mine isn't doing that.

Please fix your location to something more specific that east coast.

I've heard about this by a number of owners, especially when the screen is warm (some have said).

Isn't that around Germantown, Maryland anyway?

Cool stuff that GPS. I just fine tuned my home gps coordinates.

But I'll talk more about this thread topic so that the moderators don't get angry.

Yes, people seem to be having problems with the bezel separating from the bezel along the bottom where the screen torques a bit.

Some people have been sending them back for repair. But I don't have a Lenovo anything, so I couldn't tell you first hand. I'm one of those waiters, who are acting dumb by being on the longest ordering event for in-production machines.

Where did you read about this problem? Its an issue for me too, but I didn't know it was widespread...

::sigh:: oh, where has the Thinkpad quality gone?? (The X6 Ultrabase for my Tablet is also defective... USB ports don't work)...

Anyway... the problem is like you say, the part of the lower LCD bezel that is closest to the hinge is a bit detached. Right now it is bulging out a tiny bit. When I open up my Tablet, the bezel makes a clicking sound as it pulls away from the actual LCD. This started a few days after I got my Tablet, and goes away every once in a while, but it is there as a minor annoyance more often than not.

There's quite a long thread for this bezel problem at the tabletpcreview forums:

It seems like such a minor problem, but it's not the kinda thing I'd expect from Thinkpads. Oh well I guess you gotta let something give for more affordable prices.

is this only on the x61 tablets?

My x60 tablet seems snug as a bug in a rug.
